Editing a ScreenSteps Docs Template Lesson Posted

We just posted a lesson on how to edit a ScreenSteps Docs template. The feedback we are getting on ScreenSteps Docs is great. We are excited to see what people are doing with it.

New ScreenSteps FAQs

We have added a FAQs section to the ScreenSteps website. The most common question we have been getting is “Do I have to purchase a separate license for Mac and Windows?”

The answer is no. The same key will work on both systems. Your license is a per-user license so as long as you are the user you can install ScreenSteps on both a Mac and Windows system.

People have also asked about the difference between ScreenSteps and ScreenSteps Docs. ScreenSteps is used to create short lessons. ScreenSteps Docs is used to assemble those short lessons into an html manual complete with a table of contents. Our online manual is a good example. We are create all of the lesson with ScreenSteps and then use ScreenSteps Docs to automatically output the table of contents and lesson navigation.

We have been getting a lot of good feedback from our 1.1 release. We are glad that you are liking the product!

ScreenSteps 1.1 and New Websites Released

Last week we launched ScreenSteps 1.1 and three new websites. Needless to say, it was a little busy. I will try to sum things up.

ScreenSteps 1.1 The biggest changes are in the image editor. We have added the following tools:

  • Sequence Tool: This tool allows you to quickly add numbers to an image. View a lesson on how it works.
  •
Line Tool: Draw lines and arrows on images.

Annotation Inspector: The new annotation inspector allows you add fills to rectangles and circles and adjust their opacity.

Additional improvements include a new UI for the image capture section and the ability to drag re-order steps.

ScreenSteps 1.1 is a free download for all registered users of ScreenSteps. You can download it here.

    New Sites

We also launched three new sites last week:

We felt that splitting MediaNotes and ScreenSteps into their own sites would help clarify and simplify the information we were presenting. It was amazing how much easier the sites were to put together once we broke them up.
